Questions to Ask of Your Potential Play Equipment Supplier/Installation Supervisor:
Do you have a comprehensive community build program?
How many community build playground projects have you helped to organize and supervise?
What does the play equipment manufacturer do to make the equipment easy to assemble and volunteer friendly?
Is there any cost or fees for any community build services? Are there additional costs if you are planning a large build and the build should take more than one day?
Will you be present during all phases of the construction, including the equipment delivery and post hole layout?
Will you complete the playground post hole layout (possibly with some volunteer assistance) several days in advance of the build so the post holes can be dug prior to build day?
Will you provide a schedule of events in writing for the weeks leading up to the playground build, including equipment delivery and unloading, site preparation, post hole digging and leveling, and equipment organization, pre-assembly and build day?
Will you provide a list of tools and materials we need to gather or ask our volunteers to bring along?
Will you provide any special tools needed to assemble the equipment?
Will you complete an inspection after everything is installed to be sure the playground meets all safety guidelines and specifications?
How will you insure the playground is installed according to the manufacturer's specifications and will meet all safety guideline and standards?
Be sure to ask for Community Build Playground project references and take some time to contact those references.
